Why offer Ergo Training sessions for end-customers? In our opinion, the answer is simple: Because too many dental practitioners suffer from work-related injuries that could be avoided if they knew how to arrange their workspace and –habits ergonomically correct.
In Germany, most dentists work with traditional “Rechtsgeräte” with the instruments to the left of the chair. With this concept the dentist must look away from the area of treatment and turn the body to reach a unit instrument. As a result, the focus on the patient is repeatedly disrupted. Further the practitioner must carry the full weight of instrument and hose. And finally, the chairside assistant cannot help the dentist change contra-angles and burs and cannot transfer unit instruments to the dentist.
That’s why we started a new offer to end-customers in Germany provided by XO ergonomics specialist Aliza Sakhra under the title XO CARE Ergonomics Trainings.
“Rechtsgeräte” vs. “Over-the-patient delivery”: What’s the difference and what’s best?
In an Ergo Training session, Aliza shows how dentists and assistants radically can improve their working conditions by using an ''over-the-patient'' delivery system.
Recently, Aliza held two training sessions for new XO CARE end-customers using XO FLEX units, respectively at Dr. Ley dental clinic and at Dr. Marc and Luc Kützinger clinic - both in Luxembourg. The training sessions were carried out in collaboration with our German XO Partner Van der Ven. At the sessions, Aliza showed the clinic staff how they could improve their working postures and use the equipment to its full potential while protecting their health.
Sometimes it’s the smallest things that can make a big difference. For example, adjusting the neck rest while the patient chair is moved to the working position; most often that will make the patient feel more comfortable during the initial dialogue with the dentist. Or placing the patient position with horizontal chair back rest so that the dentist and assistant can change their working positions between 9 – 12 o’clock and see all surfaces of all teeth while sitting well.
Ergonomics is the key to professional health
Ergonomics sits at the heart of our design, and every product we make is created so that dental practitioners can do their job in a way that protects their health. Offering the new Ergo Trainings, we can help dental practitioners work better and safer and perform extraordinary dentistry.
The recent Ergo Trainings received a lot of positive feedback, and we look forward to sharing ergonomics knowledge with many more dental practitioners going forward.
