First XO FLOW impressions by an XO fan

Gerard Tolila is a true XO friend and user and also a member of XO’s International Dentist Advisory Panel. He lives on the Cotes D’Azur in the south of France. And he is a happy man, having worked now with his brand-new XO FLOW unit since the end of February 2022.

“What I like the most about XO units is the always balanced instruments. For many years I have been working with XO FLEX. However, now with the new XO FLOW, the balanced instrument principle works even better,” says Gerard Tolila. “I just need the technician to adjust the angle of one of the instrument suspensions – just for the esthetics of it,” he explains.

“But don’t you know that you can do that yourself?” replies Kim Sørensen, Chief Designer and Founder of XO CARE, who is visiting the dental clinic in Menton on a tour paying visits to the very first dentists across Europe who have acquired the new digital dental XO FLOW unit.

“You can find it in the instructions for use online on the website. All instructions are there.”

The conversation is also about the new Dashboard. “I really like this – and the ability to make my own instrument pre-sets. So far, I haven’t used the instrument workflows yet, but I’ve made my own,” Gerard says. “I like, for instance, the opportunity of selected pre-sets with the foot control.”

Without any specific guidance, Gerard has also managed on his own to integrate his old Cerec with XO FLOW via the remote desktop app. This means that he is now able to show images of the scan directly on the Navigator screen so that the patient can see these while lying in the chair. “This is a complete upgrade of the way that I’ve been using my Cerec for the past 10 years. I have always been struggling to drag the cart around in the clinic, and the patient have had to turn halfway out of the chair to see the images I’ve wanted to demonstrate to them”, says Gerard.

In the background, music by ‘Chicago’ is playing. “It’s my favorite playlist,” explains Gerard. “I always work with music in the clinic.”

“Hey, I was also a big fan of exactly this band when I was much younger,” Kim replies. And this is how the conversation evolves over the full Sunday afternoon, with no patients in the clinic, as the two acquaintances meet to exchange first impressions of the new XO FLOW unit – and discuss the upcoming features under development.

Gerard has already received very positive feedback from his patients and is eager to demonstrate his new unit among dental peers in the south of France.
