First Dutch dental practice to get the revolutionizing

XO FLOW unit installed

Dr. GertJan van Kalken is a valued member of the XO International Dentist Advisory Panel, and his dental practice was a natural stop when Kim Sørensen, Chief Designer and Founder, and Peter Sørensen, Chief Technology Officer, from XO CARE went on tour to visit the first dentists who have purchased the revolutionizing digital XO FLOW unit.

GertJan’s team has been using XO units for years, so expectations were high when the clinic was upgraded with a new XO FLOW unit. “I have been used to working with the XO4 unit. No other dental manufacturers have been able to produce a unit that comes anywhere close to this one in terms of quality. Now, with XO FLOW, comes the successor of this already remarkable XO unit.”

Taking on new features

With the new XO FLOW unit, the team has been introduced to various new features, like the Navigator screen. “All the apps in the Navigator are simple to use, and to set up the individual presets and preferences is easy. And adjusting anything is easy. During treatments, the workflow app is the only app I use, and my dental assistant is using the Navigator to choose the workflow we need,” GertJan says.

The Navigator has also proved successful in creating a pleasant patient experience – particularly for patients with dental anxiety or for children. “The patients have paid attention to the possibility to use the Navigator as a distraction. At the moment, I can show a YouTube or Netflix movie to have fun with young patients. They love to have a ‘cinema’ moment at their dental practice!”, GertJan explains.

Another new addition is the Dashboard. “The Dashboard is used to get information about the variables of the active instrument or to choose a preset for either the active or inactive instrument,” GertJan explains and continues, “It’s easy to use, and it makes the adjustments of presets clearly visible. The Dashboard gives all information in a wink of an eye.”

Future-proof technology

For GertJan and his team, working with the new digital unit has been a positive experience – both in terms of integrating workflows and improving treatment efficiency. “Working with this unit has been a pleasure. The presets make it possible to work with the most efficient variables of an instrument. I like it because I know that my individualized settings will always be how I like them to be, even if other dentists may also work with the unit.

Also, the opportunities of integrating more workflows and instruments in and on the unit are incredible,” GertJan says. “The unit can continuously be updated when new technological solutions become available. Just like our mobile phones and PCs. New instruments will be available in the future, and if I would like sometime to add another instrument, it will be possible to add it. So, we will always have an up-to-date unit.”

Besides the functionality and technological features, the unit’s design is also noticed. “Patients are amazed about the design and the information that is being shown on the screen displays. They are really impressed by the looks of it,” says GertJan.

Easy-to-use apps, excellent patient experience, efficient workflows, individual presets and a future-proof design are some of the features GertJan is excited about. To sum up his take on the new digital unit, GertJan ends with this assessment: “I really lovemy XO4 unit. It has given us a smooth and efficient workflow, but the XO FLOW… I love it even more!”
